7 Ways To Increase Your Wellbeing

The vagus nerve is the tenth cranial nerve, but why would you be interested in knowing that:-)

Well in short, if you want to optimise your physical, mental and emotional health it’s been shown to be vitally important.

Research in 2010 showed that high tone in this cranial nerve leads to positive emotions and good physical health which then increase the vagal tone even further and the loop continues.


What is it though?

It connects the brain to many organs around the body including the stomach, small and large intestines, kidneys, heart and lungs.

It is also a very important part of the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). The the opposite to the fight/flight side of the nervous system.

If you increase vagal tone you increase the drive to the PNS which results in better recovery from exercise, better digestion and improved tissue repair.


What increases vagal tone?
