If there’s one meal that people seem to struggle with consistently when coming up with ideas for what to eat, it’s breakfast.
I’ve spent countless hours in consultations making sure someone understands what will work best for their needs, for them to turn around and say “but what shall I eat at breakfast?”
From a health perspective breakfast is no different from any other meal, we should be eating whole, fresh foods in accordance to our own metabolic needs. But in reality it seems to work a little differently.
With that being the case today I thought I’d share my banana-chocolate smoothie recipe that can be adjusted depending on your nutritional needs.
1 Handful of frozen spinach
200ml Coconut water/filtered water
1 tbsp Raw cacao powder (level spoonful)
4 tbsp Great lakes collagen powder – https://amzn.to/2HF2fIm
Put all the above ingredients into a blender and wizz until smooth and creamy.
The reason why this works is it has you well covered for protein (from the collagen powder), fat (from the avocado) and carbohydrate (from the banana and coconut water).
The ratios here work well for me, but there are many who will needs to balance their blood sugar more tightly than I do at breakfast (if you find you get hungry quite quickly after eating this) so in this case I recommend making the following adjustments:
Half a banana instead of whole
3/4 or perhaps a whole avocado instead of 1/2
