Underused and forgotten about!
That’s the diaphragm, a hugely important muscle in your body. Maybe the most important given it’s our “breathing muscle”.
Sitting down most of the day with your abdomen squashed up into the diaphragm could be a cause of chest breathing and poor oxygen exchange leading to tension headaches, neck and shoulder pain and fatigue.
The piston breathing exercise causes the diagram to have to “pump” and wakes this sleepy muscle up.
It will also help reinvigorate you if you feel tired.
